WHY I'M RUNNING...
Water is the lifeblood of our communities, our economy, and our quality of life. The decisions made today by the Contra Costa Water District (CCWD) will affect our families, our businesses, our environment, and our water rates for generations to come. These challenges require experienced, thoughtful leadership—and that is why I am running to represent Division 2.
I bring more than 40 years of local government experience in finance, project management, and human resources. I understand the importance of responsible stewardship, careful financial decisions, long-term planning, and balancing the needs of a community with the realities of complex regulations, rising costs, and environmental challenges.
My commitment to serving Division 2 began before this election. When the Division 2 seat became vacant following the retirement of Board Director John Burgh, I was the first to submit an application for the appointment in April 2026. Only three people applied before the deadline which required extending the date. Of the eventual eight applicants, I was one of five selected to interview before the CCWD Board of Directors on May 13, 2026. I was honored to be considered, and I welcomed the opportunity to share my experience, perspective, and commitment to our community.
But I believe the people of Division 2 deserve more than a 15 minute interview appointment process—they deserve a CHOICE.
There are approximately 70,000 registered voters in Division 2, and I believe every one of them should have the opportunity to decide who represents their interests on the CCWD Board. An elected representative should earn the trust of the people they serve and be accountable directly to them. I have long believed in the importance of civic participation, voting rights, and an informed electorate.
I am an active member of the League of Women Voters (LWV) and was on their Board until I filed to run for office (we cannot serve in this role and be a candidate for office). The LWV mission resonates strongly with me and I am passionate about voting rights. Our democracy is strongest when voters have meaningful choices and the opportunity to consider a candidate's experience, qualifications, community involvement, and vision for the future.
I stepped forward during the appointment process because I believed I could serve. I am running now because I believe Division 2 voters should have the final say.
My endorsements show that I have the trust and confidence of a broad range of our local elected officials, as well as experts in water management and environmental stewardship. I have a long history of active community service and engagement and serving on the CCWD Board is a natural next step.
